Abstract

The main task of clinicians when a patient with COPD seeks help is to
distinguish an exacerbation of this disease from COVID-19, since there is a similarity in clinical symptoms: cough, fever, intoxication and shortness of breath. The need for further clinical studies on the problem of comorbidity of COPD and COVID-19 is shown, which will allow a detailed study of the mechanisms of mutual aggravation of associated pathology, to clarify the effect of SARS-CoV-2 on the respiratory system and the course of COPD taking into account the phenotype of the disease, to determine effective treatment methods and improve the prognosis of patients with COPD who have had the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.
